WeStore, You Create

As a student living in London I’m usually quite chuffed if I manage to go out once a week. The student nightlife is surprisingly not up to much and obviously expensive. However yesterday I managed to go to three events within one night, and whats more, they all had free drinks!

Beginning the evening in Wolf & Badger‘s Notting Hill store, my friends and I then whizzed back across London to the Google Campus where my house mate Emma had helped co-ordinate an event there.

The event saw students from Brunel University put together an impressive exhibition of cardboard sculptures. The design students who form the Made In Brunel collective were challenged by WeStore to create something that they could fit into a storage space.

The students got really creative and thought completely outside of the box! The sculptures included a fully functioning lamp…

A typewriter…

A working rocking horse (capable of holding a child’s weight!) …

And a very comfy stall…

There was also a jukebox, telescope and so many other great things that had all been made in less than a day. Industry people, students and designers nattered away whilst knocking back Mayfair Vodka and nibbling heavenly brownies from the Bad Boy’s Bakery.P1040558

Meanwhile myself, Frankie and Laura got rather excited over one masterpiece in particular…

We couldn’t help but wonder how great the aquarium would look in our living room and had our hearts set on buying it. Unfortunately though the logistics of getting it home just simply didn’t work out, even though it did cross our minds to take it with us to our next event in Jeffery West‘s Piccadilly store!

P1040533Even though we had to abandon our dreams of pet cardboard goldfish the event was still a success and Emma did a wonderful job (all whilst looking as cool as a cucumber), so well done Emma!
