Last years theme was Punk and Kim Kardashian famously got it wrong resembling Mrs Doubtfire. However, last night she looked remarkably improved wearing Lanvin. However Kanye would have just looked better if he had worn a smile

Georgia May Jagger in Thierry Muglar dress
Before this I didn’t know of Stacy Martin and hunted down this picture after seeing the corner of her in the back ground of another. I think that the outfit worn by the French-English actress is possibly my favourite from the whole evening
Suki Waterhouse has already graced the majority of UK headlines this morning in her custom Burberry gown. The event is made up of a cocktail hour and formal dinner and I can’t help wondering how some of the attendees, including Suki, managed to sit down for the meal?
Returning to the Met, Leighton Meester and Blake Lively look like they could have been filming a new Gossip Girl episode last night. I’m hoping that they got a picture together on the Met steps. Leighton is wearing a dress by Emilio Pucci
Emma Stone in Thakoon dress
Blake and Ryan Reynolds are both wearing Gucci
Dree Hemingway in Proenza Schouler
Last night New York played host to the annual Costume Institute Gala. Also known as the Met Ball, the evening fundraises for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art‘s Costume Institute and serves as the opening celebration of the institute’s annual fashion exhibit. Regarded as the premier red carpet event for the fashion industry, guests include personalities from the arts, fashion and entertainment world. Anna Wintour has chaired the event since 1995 and decides on the list of invitees with the help of her Vogue staffers. As one of the most exclusive social events, tickets come at a price. This years tickets cost $25,000 for each guest, that’s almost £15,000!
Each year the ball has a theme, this years being Charles James: Beyond Fashion. Charles James was an English-American designer, considered to be America’s first couturier, so it was presumable that last night the gents would be suited in tuxedos and white ties, meanwhile the women would be dazzling in intensely glamorous gowns. And they didn’t disappoint, click the gallery (circles) at the top to see my favourite outfits…
